Golf And Rugby An Additional Games From 2016 Olympics



Golf and rugby sevens are hoping that the International Olympic Committee will include them in Olympics from 2016. Olympic committee executive board voted to include both games at a meeting held two months back. Sanctioning must be rubber stamped by the entire IOC in Copenhagen.

Golf player Padraig Harrington and Michelle Wie and Kiwi Rugby player Jonah Lomu will be also present and participate at the final presentation on Friday. IOC congress will have a yes/no vote on the inclusion of each sport. Olympic will guarantee them a solid future and millions of dollars in improved TV deals, sponsorship and state funding. Softball, squash, baseball, roller sports, and karate were in disputation for being involved in Olympic after being eliminated by the executive board in the month of August. One of the main problems would be whether top players would compete Golf And Rugbyin Olympics when they already have tight schedule however, Tiger Woods revealed to play. Ty Votaw executive director of International Golf Federation Olympic Golf Committee said golf has been demonstrated as an Olympic sport has received exceptional support from golf organizations and leading players. International Rugby board would scrap its Sevens World Cup to ensure in Olympics as the top event. Seven Rugby is already a part of Commonwealth Games.
