Coach Steve Meehan Extended His Contract
Steve Meehan Bath head coach has signed a two-year contract extension that is set to keep him at the Guinness Premiership club until 2012. Deal is a major endorsement for Meeham‘s tenure despite of the club difficult start to the season with just one win and a draw from five Guinness Premiership games.
Meehan said he is very happy staying and continue working with these players for the club and its supporters. Bath has struggled to emerge from the shadow of drug scandal that rocked
the club last season. Bath chief executive Nick Blofeld said we are delighted has Steve pledged another two years to Bath Rugby and the whole team on and off the pitch are keen to keep improving. Meehan joined Bath from Stade Francais in summer 2006 initially as backs coach. He soon became head coach after the departure of Brain Ashton. Bath had a slow start to the season winning only one of their six games including the defeat of Ulster in the Heineken Cup on Friday. However, Queenslander brought Bath their first silverware in 10 years when the club won the European Challenge in 2008. Meehan said Guinness Premiership kept on throwing up challenges to them, as does the Heineken Cup. Meehan decision to extend his stay at Bath comes shortly after the arrival of new executive who took over on 1 September.
